The Apocalypse Engine is the culmination of a desire to repre-sent the nature of war in a symbolic and graphic image. It is the synthesis of both modern human technical expertise and the most basic human desire to destroy that which we perceive to be different from ourselves. The large airplane in the foreground is both a World War II "Flying Tiger" and a shark. It is the me-chanical equivalent of a shark; an efficient and emotionless killing machine. The smaller planes in the background are alligned in rows to symbolize the mechanization of warfare, the conversion of factories and skilled labor from consumer production to that of military output. These planes are also representative of schools of fish (or a squad of enemy planes) through which the "shark" glides through, feeding at will.
