This work depicts the suburban lifestyle as a cloistered, paranoid neighborhood where families lock themselves into gated communities and rarely, if ever, get to know their neighbors. The wood base is cut into the shape of a castle whose gate is permanently locked to keep strangers out and also acts to keep the dwellers in. Each window is carved into the shape of a house and the occupants are depicted using old black-and-white photos with a gold-leaf finish.
